DIAGNOSTIC WEEKNIGHT HOLIDAY CALL (9/20/14)

1. When the Independence/Christmas/New Year holidays fall on Monday, they will be treated like the Memorial/Labor day holiday weekends.

2. When the Independence/Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year holidays fall on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, the corresponding weeknight eves are included as part of holiday call coverage for CCH & Phx hospital rads. PM reader covering the weeknight eve receives monthly weeknight call credit but not holiday credit. Rads can & should submit monthly preferences to DL to avoid or alternatively indicate their availability to work these weeknights if they so desire. Although not guaranteed, every attempt will be made to honor these requests.

3. When the Independence/Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year holidays fall on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, the preceding & following weekends are neither considered part of holiday call nor count for holiday call credit. Rads can & should submit preferences to DL to avoid or alternatively indicate their availability to work these weekends if they so desire. Although not guaranteed, every attempt will be made to honor these requests.

4. Tentatively, when the Independence/Christmas/New Year holidays fall on Friday, the Thursday eve to be covered by 3 rads who will receive monthly weeknight call credit but not holiday credit. Rads can & should submit preferences to DL to avoid these Thursdays if they so desire. Although not guaranteed, every attempt will be made to honor these requests.

From: Squires, Fred Sent: Wednesday, June 25, 2014 10:02 AM Subject: CCH INPT MRI AFTER HOURS It was decided by the OPS committee that all STAT inpatient MRIs performed after hours at CCH should be read by the on call MRI reader. Routine inpatient MRI studies performed at CCH after hours that we are specifically asked to read by the referring physician should be read. Routine inpatient studies with indications or findings that are of concern to the CCH MRI technologist should be reviewed and if positive must be read. PM reader (or MRI reader if other than PM reader) should keep filters open for inpatient MRI studies to be aware of what types of inpatient studies have been done after hours. Cases that could have findings requiring emergency treatment – eg: epidural abcess – should be reviewed and if positive dictated. Routine inpatient MRIs performed after hours due to daytime capacity limitations may be read by the on call MRI reader however this is not required and should not interfere with our contractual obligation to read all ER plain films, ER and inpatient US and nuclear medicine cases and stat inpatient plain films in a timely manner.
